Charlotte Dumas is at the centre of a major exhibition being held until 20th January in Paris at the Dutch Institute. With Anima, the artist pays a vibrant tribute to animals and the place they hold in history and the life of humans. An event which is clearly unmissable for all keen photographers as well as animal lovers!
Charlotte Dumas: fascinating work
The intimacy which Charlotte Dumas establishes with her ‘models’ is quite simply incredible! Wolves, police dogs or tigers, the animals which she photographs inspire the works with depth, imbued with emotion and sensitivity. As well as these superb photographs, taken in 2011 and 2012, you can also admire some Polaroid pictures by the Dutch photographer, which she uses to help her prepare her portraits. They are being presented to the public for the very first time as part of the Month of Photography taking place in Paris!
Did you know? The Dutch institute was founded in 1957. It is one of the oldest foreign cultural centres in Paris! The centre still holds regular events such as concerts, film screenings and debates.
