Enjoy Paris with kids this Christmas and see a historic place in a new light
From 21 December to 5 January, the Grand Palais, the grandest of Paris's exhibition spaces, is transformed into a palace of fun.
The Grand Palais is a masterpiece of Beaux Arts architecture, dating from the 1900s and dedicated to "the glory of French art". These days, it's usually the setting for blockbuster art exhibitions.
This indoor carnival will give a majestic old building an entirely new life. The organisers say their aim is to turn the Grand Palais into a mixture of funfair and folk art festival. You'll be able to ride the wooden horses of a traditional merry-go-round with the children and try your hand at shooting - and perhaps winning a prize - on one of the stalls. There will be more than 50 attractions in all, among them bumper cars which promise fun for children of all ages.
Adults can also look forward to architectural discoveries, as well as an entirely new way to enjoy the most romantic city in the world. Because when you ride the Ferris Wheel, you'll see the restored splendour of the Grand Palais in a new light. At the top, through the domed glass roof, there'll be a unique view of Paris. This ride is worth a visit all on its own.
