Fete de la Musique 2014 on Friday June 21st is an extraordinary celebration of music, as musicians perform without charge on the streets and thousands turn out to celebrate all over the city, including in the Marais, the vibrant area where Hotel de la Herse d'Or is situated.
Celebrate Fete de la Musique 2014 in Paris
Started by the renowned French Culture Minister Jack Lang in 1982, the Paris music day 'Fete de la Musique' is now firmly established as one of the top days in the Parisian music calendar, always taking place on the longest day of the year.
It's nothing less than a free festival of music on every street corner throughout the city. Whether it's a singer with a guitar outside the hotel, or a rock group playing in a shopping centre, you'll find something that suits your tastes.
We recommend that you simply take a walk, beginning at our front door in the morning, and head where your ears take you. You'll be participating in a truly Parisian event, one which locals look forward to throughout the year, and an idea that's now spread throughout the world.
There are choirs and karaoke, well-known names and buskers: everyone who has a voice is invited to take part in this astonishing celebration of music. Allow yourself to be caught up by the crowds and grab a snack and a drink in the streets as the day moves on into the evening.
Perhaps you'll see a big name, be captivated by a new star - or pick up the microphone yourself. However you experience it, Fete de la Musique will be a day you will never forget.
