Does the prospect of dancing the night away within the stately walls of the largest railway station in Europe intrigue you? Then you’ll be thrilled to know that the Gare du Nord is to be turned into a giant nightclub, just for one night. Mark July 11th in your calendar and book your evening!
If you want to spend a fun-filled and truly original night with your friends this summer in Paris, here’s your chance, as the Gare du Nord turns into a giant nightclub. For the first time in its 150 years of existence, the Parisian railway station will be stopping all train services on the night of July 11th from 23:30 until 5:30 the following morning. This ingenious idea arose in a collaboration between Silence Events and the SNCF, and this silent disco 'Silence Station Night' is the result. There will certainly be plenty of room to strut your stuff as this temporary nightclub will have a dance floor of more than 4 000 m², opposite train platforms 1 to 14.
More than 3,000 partygoers expected at the Gare du Nord
This silent disco will offer music for all tastes, including funk, hip-hop, electro and more. So you can be sure that your own particular favourite will be on hand to get you moving! To keep you dancing all night, the organisers have enlisted the services of more than 12 internationally renowned DJs, including Cut Killer, Aazar and Vincent Vega. The evening has the wind in its sails already on social media, with nearly 3,000 partygoers anticipating the fun.
Dancing in silence and a great atmosphere
Silent Station Night is still a relatively new concept and one that is right at the forefront of technology. Wireless headsets are handed out to partygoers at the entrance to the venue. These allow the user to control the volume and also to tune in to the music of their choice at the touch of a finger. There will be three DJs playing music at any one time, and the headsets can be switched over to whichever of them is offering the music you love to dance to. It’s great fun, it gives you the chance to talk to friends without yelling if you wish, and it doesn’t disturb the neighbours! As organiser Martin Melik says, "The headsets are very user-friendly, and the experience is more sociable, as people can talk and get to know each other.”
Of course, several bars will be placed at your disposal for refreshments and, for the most privileged, a space usually reserved for the Eurostar will become the VIP lounge. For security reasons, no train services will be using the station on the night in question.
Tickets for this unmissable event are 26 euros per person, but to celebrate the 150th anniversary of this historic railway station in such a special way is definitely worth it!
