As summer approaches, Paris is once again making its preparations for Music Day, one of the most popular music festivals in Europe. Fête de la Musique is now in its 34th exciting year and will take place all over the capital on 21st Jun 2015. It's the ideal time for you to plan a stay at Hotel Herse d'Or, where elegant décor and a warm atmosphere provide you with the perfect base from which to enjoy Fete de la Musique.
This friendly annual music festival is one of the capital's most eagerly anticipated events, and has proved so popular since it was founded by the Ministry of Culture in 1982 that Fete de la Musique now takes place in over 100 countries on 5 continents. The music festival aims to bring musicians from all genres and backgrounds together, and professional and amateur acts from all over France and further afield take part.
See the musicians and bands you love in a unique setting
Music day attracts music fans from every part of the city and people come from all over the world to join in. Each neighbourhood in Paris has its own programme of events, and lovers of rock and pop, electro and dance, jazz, classical and world music are all catered for. See new acts and established internationally known musicians play live on the streets of the capital or in unique venues like the Grand Palais, prestigious universities and museums, parks and gardens, and even the metro stations.
Past music festivals have featured notable acts like Tahin, Teleferik, Mary Has a Gun and Stereotypical Working Class, and 2015 promises to be more exciting than ever. Catch top classical performers in the Grand Palais where symphonies and waltzes keep enthusiasts happy throughout the day, or head to Place de la Republique for new and established rock acts. You'll find indie music at Denfers-Rochereau, and if you like to plan ahead a programme of shows is available from about a month before Music Day.
