News of the Hotel de la Herse d'Or this month brings you free songs on the streets, the excitement of the summer sales - and one of this year's sensational exhibitions.
The exhibition is at the Petit Palais until 7 August - and we believe it is an unforgettable cultural event. Paris 1900 reminds us of a time when the city was the envy of the world and the curators have assembled exhibits that take you into that glamorous era. They've made sure that this is an immersive experience, and you will emerge with an entirely new view of Paris.
We also recommend that you put the dates 25 June to 29 July in your diary if you're at all interested in shopping - because that's when the great stores of this city, from the fabulous department stores to the smallest boutiques have their summer sales. Want to pick up a bargain? This is the time.
Another date, this time for anyone interested in music, is 21 June, the summer solstice. This is the day of the annual Fete de la Musique, the free music festival that sweeps the city with singers, choirs and rock bands taking over every possible space for one unforgettable day.
Paris 1900 new exhibition takes you back to an amazing time
This once-in-a-lifetime show is a must for everyone interested in the days when Paris showed off its fashion, art and technology to the world. Paris 1900 is set over six pavilions at the Petit Palais, itself built for the Exposition Universelle of that year. You'll see works of art, an entire section on fashion as well as the new inventions of the time - from diesel engines to the very first cinema - and the ideas of art nouveau, the decorative movement which still defines how Paris looks today.
Paris Summer Sales 2014 for great bargains at great stores
We recommend that you make your way to the grand Boulevard Haussmann to begin your journey through Parisian stores during the summer sales, between June 25 and July 29. First up: Galeries Lafayette and Au Printemps, the flagship shops of two of the biggest names in French shopping. These lavish stores have floor after floor of cut prices on some of the finest names in the world today. Le Bon Marché on the Left Bank is our third recommendation, not least because many say it is the most chic shopping destination in Paris today.
Fete de la Musique 2014 brings free music to Paris streets
On 21st June, the longest day, musicians perform free in a city-wide music festival taking place in public places, bars and on street corners. For many Parisians this is, quite simply, the best day of the year. Start from the front door of Hotel de la Herse d'Or in the heart of the Marais, and go where your ears take you. From choirs to karaoke and buskers to rock bands, you're sure to find something that you will enjoy.
