There's nothing like a funfair in the summer to put a smile on your face - and Tuileries Funfair is a real Paris favourite, in a beautiful location that's an easy Metro ride from Hotel de la Herse d'Or.
Rides from the past and the future at the Fête des Tuileries
The Tuileries Funfair is a summer institution that children - of all ages! - will love, situated in the Tuileries Gardens on the banks of the Seine until August 24th. The organiser, Marcel Campion, is a great fan of funfairs who campaigned for years to make the Tuileries Funfair an annual event.
When you visit, you'll find traditional attractions such as an antique roundabout dating form 1900, bumper cars, ghost trains and many stalls offering everything from duck shooting to - of course! - candyfloss. There are ultra-modern attractions too, prime among them the state-of-the-art 6G ride for those with strong stomachs and an appetite for adrenalin.
In addition, this year they're celebrating Claude Lelouche, the great French cinema director who marks 50 years of film in 2014. If you visit on August 14, you can enjoy a free jazz concert from the singer Dany Brillant - just another great part of the summer festivities in the Tuileries Gardens, themselves a landmark of Paris.
